I have no sound on my computer.

Got a new computer, sound card not installed, big problem?

  • Okay, so I went to a computer shop about 3 days ago and told the guy, I'm looking for a custom gaming computer that can run World of Warcraft on max graphics setting, etc. So I bought the computer a new monitor, etc. from the guy and he was really cool. I showed up to his shop to get the computer and he hooked up to his testing station where he shows everything on the computer works before I take it home. He tested every "INCLUDING the sound while I was standing there, he made the computer make noise. i took the computer home and now, I cannot get sound to work, I went under my sound setting thing and it is displayed like I dont have a sound card installed in my computer at all. I just am not sure why it would be doing this. I tried installing my turtle beach headphones and it will not even find them. I went to realtek's website and downloaded some sound drivers for windows 7 and it still is not working. My only source of sound will be coming from "Turtle beach x 11" headphones (Witch it cannot find drivers or anything for) *Under DirectX Diagnostic Tool* when I look under the Sound tab it shows nothing. Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E7600 @ 3.06GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Display (Graphics): NVIDIA GeForce 210 Driver Version: 8.16.11.9107

If you're using a sound card and not onboard audio then make sure the card didn't come unseated when you moved it home. Try calling the shop where you bought it. They should provide some support for you, and if they gave you any kind of warranty fix it if there's some problem.

Take it back to the store and ask the guy to show you how to get it to work as you want.

reinstall the drivers for the card, maybe he blew it out testing it, maybe it's not compatible, maybe you need to activate it
