How can I record directly from a keyboard onto a computer?

How do I connect my keyboard (piano) to my computer and record it?

  • I want to record my keyboard but it wont let me and I've done it before on my old computer. I'm, using one of these to plug it in. http://www.guitarsdrumsandmore.com/images/Black_Friday/Guitar%20Cable.jpg And I dont kow what they are called but I have a cable that looks like a headphone cable thingy that I snapped onto the end that plugs into the computer.. but its not working.. I did it on my old computer and it worked. Oh, and I'm trying to record it with mixcraft :)

Im not sure of your whole configuration but i have done this before by plugging one end into my keyboard and the other end into the microphone input on the back of my computer then using audiocity (I might have messed up the name, it was something like that) to record from the mic input

the chord you're using is mono, it the adapter you're using also mono? the reason is the input on the computer is stereo, so you must use a mono to stereo adapter because a streo adapter is grounding out the signal.
