-
When i turn my computer on sometimes it shows the e-machine logo than the screen goes black and the windows XP boot screen doesn't appear so I turn my computer off than on than it's fine for a couple of days than it than I will get a black screen again. I know it is not the monitor because it shows the e-machine logo before the black screen, and i know it is not a virus or driver problem as it happens before windows even loads.

Answer:
Could be a bad graphics card. Also, the CPU could be overheating. To check, open the BIOS settings and select Hardware Monitor to watch the temps. Keep it below 60C normally and anything under 70C is usually good, but this all depends on your processor. There are many other problems that could cause this, but these two seem practical.
