How do wireless computer speakers work?

How can I fix my computer speakers so they both work (sound only from left)?

  • My computer is a Dell Studio XPS with i7 920 processor, 6gb of ram, 2 640gb HDDs in RAID 0, and a Realtek audio card running drive 6.0.1.5783, DirectX 10.0, and the audio codec is ALC888S. I have Dell A525 speakers with subwoofer module and they work fine except that no sound comes out of the right speaker. I've checked all the cables and I've been using the computer for a long time with the right speaker not working, so it's not just a one-time thing. I'm not very familiar with audio drivers and I've searched Google for my problem and haven't found anything. If someone familiar with computer audio or speakers could help me it'd be greatly appreciated.
