How do I set my controller as my mouse?

No Mouse or Keyboard response at Windows 7 Logon Screen?

  • Hi Yahoo community, I can't login to Windows. Here's what I've tested so far and read on forums including other bits of information that may lead to an answer: - I have no keyboard or mouse control when I boot up into Win7 (x64) logon screen. My keyboard lights go blank as soon as I pick my dualbooted OS and it says 'Starting Windows' and follows to the logon welcome screen. - I have tried booting up in safe mode with the same issue. No control. Completely frozen. Only option is to press the power button to automate a shutdown. - I recently Overclocked my PCs RAM and CPU though this hasn't had any problems so far on this new temporary OS I've created or for the few days it ran on my old one before I got locked out. So i don't think this is my problem though I heard someone had mouse and keyboard lockup and found the cause to be bad RAM. - My keyboard and mouse are both fully functional and have no faults. - My suspicion is with some software and drivers I tried to install for a PlayStation 3 controller I tried to get working on my PC. The software and the drivers didn't seem to work and in the process I had to do BCDedit /set TESTSIGNING ON to allow the unofficial drivers to be installed. It spoke about COM ports in the software and I believe this to have corrupted my USB drivers or messed with them in some way. - I have run a full virus scan of my downloads, programs and OS directories and found nothing so the software and drivers are clean as I know Eset NOD32 to be a reliable virus scanner. - I am going to try using a PS/2 keyboard controller to logon as soon as possible as I think it doesn't use the same drivers as the USBs and could enable me to enter my password and try to fix my OS from within the OS rather than this one I'm currently running as a temp backup Win7 to write this question. - I've also read that a solution may be to copy working files from \Windows\System32\Drivers named: hccoin.dll, usbehci.sys, usbhub.sys and usbport.sys to the broken operating systems same directory to try and fix issues. My problem with this is that I can't gain access to these folders from my temporarily installed OS. I can't write files to that directory. - I pretty sure something to do with the software/drivers I installed for the PS3 controller messed up the USBs somehow. I have deleted all the data folders for the softwares I downloaded and uninstalled the drivers too but with no luck. - The Device Manager reports no faults with any hardware (no yellow caution symbols anywhere). - I tried doing a system restore but there are no restore points. - I tried to do a system repair using a Windows 7 installation disk but none of the repairs helped. I have no problems what-so-ever on this temp OS. I'd rather not reinstall my 'broken' OS as it seems to be a minor problem (with major consequences!) that's not allowing me to log in to Windows. I won't loose data if I reinstall (as it is all partitioned away from the OS) but I like fixing problems when possible rather than undoing all my desktop customisation and personality I've added to my system. Anyone help me fix this nuisance? Any way to gain permissions access by brute force? Any known solutions? Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

If you can’t find the right drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at: http://www.drivers-updates.net/ You can also search by the following link: http://forums.driverguide.com/

OC RAM does freeze your OS, try leaving your RAM in default and try again. If it doesn't try this: Put your WIN 7 disc and boot into it, select the fix windows in command prompt type: xcopy d:\bootmgr c: <enter> xcopy d:\bootmgr.efi c: <enter> bootsec /nt60 c: <enter> ps. <enter> means just presss enter do not type it restart
