What can I do with drive "D" my recovery drive?

Is the D recovery drive part of the C drive that can be taken out of the computer?

  • Ok after 3 1/2 years on the embarrassing 160 gig hard drive on my laptop (which i've filled up) i've bought an internal hard drive to replace it with. The only problem i face (I've backed up all my files) is if the recovery D drive is in the hard drive that I'm removing. Or do i need the recovery disks (which i lost about a year ago). (i also know i can make a recovery disk but i just don't really have the time.

  • Answer:

Yes the C drive and the D drive are part of the same hard drive. If you replace that drive i recommend you clone the old drive using a Disk Drive Utility such as http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm. this will put both partitions onto the new drive.
