Did I get a good external HDD enclosure for my Seagate 1TB HDD?

This is my external hard drive setup Internal HDD I got a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7,200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive Link: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0334293 External HDD enclosure: Vantec NexStar CX 3.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure link: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0280367 Now, what i'm concerned is is with the life of the hard drive with my external enclosure. I noticed that the one I purchased didn't came with a fan because the HDD enclosure is made out of aluminum which I taught was good enough for heat dissipation. Aside of that, the price for it was really good.. I'm only using this hard drive with the vantec enclosure for my music and videos. In addition, I want to use the hard drive to play music such as connecting it to a multimedia receiver, and/or playing music on my computer.. I know that many of you will probably mention that I should have got an enclosure with a built-in fan. Aside of that, I would appreciate anyone who had experience with a fanless, aluminum enclosure. I'm open for your suggestions, thanks,

I've had a 1TB drive in the same enclosure for over a year now, used daily, without issue. It gets a little hot, but as long as the drive enclosure is exposed (not in a drawer), you should be fine.

Yes, you did. Seagate is a very reliable company, I've used them for EVERY computer I have built (about 219 so far). On the other hand, Vantec I have never heard of. But judging by the description and pic, it looks like you scored! You shoulnd't need to worry about the temp unless you will be using that hard drive for putting FPS games on.
