How to connect woofer to my hi-fi?

How can i connect a woofer to my PC ?????????????

  • I hav a Sony Active SubWoofer which i got along with the Sony Home Sound system, I want to connect it to my PC. I hav a sound card Supporting Upto 7.1 Channel, and it also has a slot Indicating ( Center & Woofer ). On the back of the Woofer It has a Slot for Input & Speakers ( Input & Output ) I tried to connect it directly to the Line in Slot On my Sound Card, But It did'nt Worked. What Should I do ???????????? I tried my best . . . . . . . .

  • Answer:

Does the subwoofer have it's own power source? If not, it will not work without running it through the Sony Home Sound system. The output on your soundcard is not amplified, so there will not be enough power to run a sub unless it is a powered sub.

you should connect your Subwoofer on the Line OUT... line in is for mic.

PC sound cards don't have the power to drive a home theater speakers directly. you can connect the PC to the pre-amp of the home theater and run it that way.

The woofer slot on a PC is intended for speakers that are specifically made for a PC. My advice would be to connect the speakers to a stereo system, then hook up the stereo system to the pc by taking a cord with a headphone jack on one end, and L and R stereo jacks on the others. You can find these at any electronics store.
