What does the error code 999 mean?

What does this computer error code mean?

  • Randomly last night when I turned my computer back on an error page came up and it had all my computers information then at the bottom said "ERROR 0232: RAM failed at address line 1E". That might not be word for word but that was the gist of it. Then it says press F1 to resume press F2 for configuration. So I press F1 it comes up with the screen asking me how I want to start it..(safe mode, regular, etc") So I try regular first...it tries to go...then 5 secs later it goes beep beep and goes back to the error screen..I repeat this trying it on every mode...no luck. Eventually after just trying and trying I get it to go up in safe mode. I run a full virus check...says no viruses. I restart and see if it works in normal..nope. But I keep trying and eventually get it to boot up in normal mode. Everything works perfectly fine as normal. BUT if i let it go into hibernate or shut it down again..the error message will come back up. So I after I leave and come back and have to go thru the error message again I get it to go in safe mode again.. I try system recover cause it recommended it. I did a recover to settings from a week ago...restarted it...says it was succesfful. But then the error message continues to come up still now. Like right now I got sick of trying to boot it up so Im asking on my friends super slow computer. I want to know if anyone knows what the problem is? Also very strange to me that I have gotten it to start up normally 3 times throughout the day but it takes like 100 tries (literally) and weird that it works seemingly perfectly once I do get it started. Ahhhh

Did you just change your memory (add ram)? That is usually the error for the ram either wrong for that computer, in the wrong slots or maybe something happened to it. If you did not install ram, then maybe open it up and make sure the memory is in place.

sounds like you have a bad address on one of your memory sticks, if you have two or more sticks, try swapping the sticks and restart your computer....good luck

if your o/s is vista the next time you get that boot up error screen hit the tap key and enter the windows memory diagnostics and run a extended test that should tell you if their is anything wrong with your ram. if you have xp you will have to down load memtest86 and boot into it and do the same thing it sounds like your ram could be dead hope this helps
