Why won't my PC work on my TV?

Built in speakers from tv dont work on pc?

  • i hooked my pc (tat has no external speakers connected to it) up to my tv, and it is working fine, except the sound is not working. the internal speakers on the tv work fine with normal tv, but when the pc is plugged in the internal speakers dont work. p.s. i am using a vga cable with a dvi to vga converter from my graphics card to my tv.

  • Answer:

Thats because you'd need AVI cables to get sound. you'd need to buy new speakers and hook them up to your computer. This is because the t'v is getting no sound waves sent to it from the VGA cables. Speakers arent too expencive. You could pick up somethin cheap from walmart or the dollar store.

If your laptop/PC has an HDMI port on it, it will carry both sound and video.

VGA only carries video, not sound. So the vga connection is not sending any sound to your TV. Get a cable that is minijack on one end (to plug into the speaker port on the computer) and RCA on the other (to plug into the red audio input on the TV). That will carry the sound from the computer to the TV and you will get sound. Check to see if you computer has an HDMI port. If it does, you can use an HDMI cable from the computer to the TV (assuming it has HDMI input) and that will carry both the audio and video and give you a higher quality picture.
