How To Check Voter ID Card Status?

Help with a serious NVidia graphics card problem (need advanced tech help)?

  • I am having huge problems with my NVidia geforce 7900 graphics card. In short, Windows detects the driver as being there but it is not working at all, if i run dxdiag and check "display" nothing registers. It is just either a n/a sign or a weird (). I have tried reinstalling the card, trying it in a different computer (to no avail) and also trying a different graphics card in this PC, which also failed, leading me to belive the problem is not the card. However, if i run device manager it has the "!" sign next to it. I have also tried using windows update and third party software to update the drivers but this also failed. I am running windows vista home premium, although i cannot tell you graphic details because dxdiag returns no useful results under display (ironically it says "Nop problems found"). It says we have dx11, which is weird, because i thought that was only for 7. See bottom of this question for what it returns. I have also tried numerous other things, such as reinstalling other drivers and updating dx. i also tried uninstalling dx, but it didnt appear to uninstall. My question is: does anyone know the answer or have any likely suggestions? I have had a fairly experienced technical worker look at it and he could not locate the problem. We do not own an installation disk so we cannot reload or repair windows. Equally, please say if there is actually nothing for it but to buy a new PC. Note: The computer stil runs many applications, such as internet explorer and office, etc. Anything with any kind of minimum requirement does not work, like all games and also some other programs like Movie Maker.     I would try the following: Check Nvidia or Dell's website for compatibility of the card with Vista Check power requirements versus current power supply Check Dell's website for the latest updates for the system BIOS and motherboard drivers Start Windows in Safe Mode and delete all of the video drivers and any related software. Remove the the video card from Device manager Restart Windows in normal mode, let it discover the card and install the latest drivers. You stated that you tried another video card and that it did not work either. It could be possible that you have a bad slot on the motherboard. If you have another slot available have you tried that one? Good Luck.

The only think i can say is it campatable with the motherboard, there AGP PCI and PCI express. But if you got card to fit then thats not the prob. Also the card might need more power, like a better power supply. Is there a dVD that came with it, download a new driver from Nvidia website and see if the device manger detects it
