Why am I still getting static with an auxiliary cable?

Why does my ethernet cable keep getting disconnected?

  • i have a laptop, and have an ethernet cable plugged into it. it's been fine, but last night it kept getting disconnected, even though the cable was still in. I've changed cables but each time i have to wiggle the cable until it works, and as soon as i bump it its offline again. could the ethernet plug in my computer be bad. and if it is would the wireless still work. i'm assuming it would because it's not the same connection, but i'm just checking

  • Answer:

The wireless should still work, it sound like you need to replace that port so you cable won't continue to lose conectivity.

You may just have a stubborn cable. You want to make sure you hear that "click" when you plug it in. As for the wireless, it is completely independent of the ethernet cable connection, but only one can work at a time. If you are using a laptop and have a good wireless connection, I would just use that. I always use wireless for my laptop. This way if you move, you won't have to "reconnect" if you unplug it and go to wireless.

This is a damaged port on the network card. Normally caused by too much strain on the cable when it gets pulled or tripped over. It will not affect the wireless card.

Well theres 2 things i can think of 1 ur laptop has HDD protected causing it to freeze the pc to stop and damage but shouldn't disconnect it as I run wireless and mine HDD protection doesn't and 2 u have damaged the cable socket and when it it moved it causes a connection break and disconnects
