When your GPU runs out of VRAM, does it use the HDD for storage?

Say if your playing a game, and the game needs more VRAM then your GPU has, and your GPU runs out of VRAM. Then will it use your HDD or SSD for VRAM?

Answer:
The game will just slow down, or the graphics will look bad, with slow frame rates. It doesn't need a virtual drive, the VRAM is much faster than main RAM.
