How do you modify your computer?

I cant get new games to work on my computer. What do i need to modify on my desktop?

  • I have an old computer and a lot of new games to put on it (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Bioshock). I have installed them into my computer and fallout doesn't work and Oblivion refuses to be installed. I am planning on getting a new graphics card but I'm not to sure if it will work. I want to be able to play these games to the max please help. Tec Specs NVIDIA Geforce 4000 1.5 GB Ram Intel Pentium 4 160 GB hard drive Windows XP Thankyou

  • Answer:

Chances are you need some sort of video card upgrade, considering your motherboard can handle it (my old desktop didn't have a PCIe slot for the newer graphics cards). You seem to have plenty of RAM, a sufficient enough processor and the correct OS, just your NVIDIA GeForce graphics card seems to not meet the minimum requirements (at least for Fallout 3, which I am running). I would go with a NVIDIA GeForce 8 series card or higher. I have also found this site to be EXTREMELY helpful when trying to figure out if you can run a game or not. Very reliable and works very fast and even tells you which areas your computer fails in and your computer ranking compared to other users. http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/

no chance. fallout neds at least the slowest dual core chip to run and at least a nvidia 7900gs to play on any real level of detail. ur ram is probably running at 333mhz so loading times will be slow as. my advice, save 400 and buy the best bit of kit u can get for it then u may be able to play them, just. AKA your computer is TO OLD. oblivion may be able to be coaxed into life on your machine but u will need the fastest graphics card u can afford. and your computer is probs not pci exprees compatible so it will be hard to find a compatible card. soz to be a downer m8 but i'm being realistic

The Graphics Card sounds like the biggest problem. But go to the link below and pick the game you want to play then run the scan. It will tell you what you need in order to play the game. http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is on the list toward the bottom.

you may need more ram look at specs on games.
