its EXTREMELY important to keep a PC cool, high temperatures often result in malfunctions or burnouts. Now you may say, 'well if a cooler keeps a processor at a good temp, what is the point of spending more money for a slightly lower temp?' overclocking, the process of making a processor 'work' faster by increasing the rate in which it runs. Higher rates=higher temps. But overclocking is very worthwhile because it can run programs better.

1. The cooler the chipset is, the longer it lasts. 2. Some chipsets get to hot without water cooling and shut down. 3. Some chips, particularly consumer grade chips, produce errors at higher temperatures.
