Help! Getting an error message when trying to install hardware to my computer?

  • I just got a different computer. I am doing what I normally do to upload songs on my phone. But when I try to install the hardware I get "Cannot install this hardware. This hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" Its wanting like CD-ROM or something. And I don't have that. I have never had this problem with other computers. Any help?

    Go to the manufacture website, (The device you are trying to use) and download the software/ drivers that are needed. Have you updated your new pc. Its in your program file list "Microsoft updater". or just go to the Microsoft website and have it scan your pc for new updates.

you need the cd-rom sofware to do it. or go to the phone manufactures website and install it from there.

download the hardware drivers for your operating system from the manufacturer's website. hardware needs drivers. you didnt say who made the phone, but like for Nokia, you will need Nokia PC Suite, for motorola, you need Motorola Phone Tools, etc.

No offense, but your phone is probably so old that built-in drivers that come with Windows just don't come with Windows out of the box anymore. OR for some reason your computer isn't configured to do Automatic Updates. OR that driver isn't provided by Sony or by Microsoft, so when you DO tell Windows to look for drivers and include Automatic/Windows Update, that driver isn't there anymore to get. Do you know which model number?
