Why is my monitor is turning off by itself?

Why does my monitor continue turning black after I turn it on?

  • Today I just got a 9800GTX nvIDIA GeForce video card. I put it into my computer and now when I turn on the computer my monitor turns on, says no signal, then goes back off. My monitor is a 19" acer. My power supply is 450watts and one of the power adapters is plugged in and the 9800GTX requires 450watts. So, I then tried to go back onto it by putting in my old video card and putting everything back the way it was. Monitor still turns on, says no signal, and then turns black. HELP ME PLEASE.

  • Answer:

Sounds to me like you may have bumped something during the installation of the new card. Is there a beep code? Do you see the boot logo at all before the screen shuts off? Try disconnecting everything except for the motherboard, CPU, memory, Video card and Power supply, see if it still does it.

congrats on ur purshase. check the connections to the monitor. then reset ur mb cmos. also make sure that the card does not its not loose and that the connectors are in on the card.

check the cable form the cpu to the monitor. also you probablly need a new power supply if you want to use that graphics card. even though it says 450 it means like 500.
