How do I get movies on an SD card?

How do I get Windows to view my 2GB SD card from my 3DS without formatting it first?

  • I recently bought a 3DS. Last week, I powered down my 3DS, removed my 2 GB SD card, put it into my computer, and put some music onto it. (MAYBE 100 MB worth of files, but it was only like two albums worth of music) Today I decided I wanted to put some music onto my SD card, so I powered down my 3DS, removed the SD card, put it in my computer, and Windows (I run Windows 7) gave me a notification stating that I needed to format my SD card. I tried formatting it so that it was FAT16 with 1.83 GB capacity. Windows told me it couldn't format it. I was curious so I put it back into my 3DS- all of my music was still on it, but because I can't view the file directory of the SD card through Windows, I can't add anymore music to it. I don't want to have to try to format the SD card every time I want to put music on it. How can I get around this? Is there some kind of alternative file browser for SD cards I can download? Windows doesn't seem to be a help here.

  • Answer:

Do NOT format it. Just keep re-inserting the SD Card until it works. P.S. You might have the write-protection on (it's the little switch on the side of the SD Card), so you might need to put that little switch the other direction.
