Why won't my computer let me defragment C drive?

If I defragment my Hard Disk drive could it help with the speed of my computer?

  • I downloaded a program and it said my HDD was over 70% fragmented and I had over 108 giga bytes of fragmented files on my computer. If I defragment my computer should it increase the speed of my computer? btw its an intel core 2 duo 2.40ghz 600gb HDD, its 4 and a half years old.

yup you should defragment it as it is good for hard drives as this helps the pc to write and read the data. and all this also helps the cpu to process more data .

I like to think of a disk defragment as organizing your files in your file cabinet. Doing so will allow you to find your files faster. It is the same idea with the computer. In simple, yes it will make your computer run faster in some ways. For a four year old computer it might not make a noticeable difference but you definitely should do it anyway for your computer's health.

Yes, for sure... Its kinda like, cleaning up your room so you can find things faster... if you defrag your hard drive the computer will find the files easier and it will be faster...

You should defrag once a month. Yes the speed will be better.
