What is the difference between HFS and NTFS?

i just want to know the specs, is one faster? is one more compressed? what are the technical differences, I already know HFS is for mac, and NTFS is windows.

I am no expert in file systems but it seems to me that NTFS is definitely more complicated than HFS+ NTFS was using a Journaled File System since1993 HFS+ had Journaling added in 1998 NTFS is owned by Microsoft and their Operating system and NTFS have been designed in parallel NTFS uses the NTFS Log ($Logfile) to record metadata changes to the volume. This is where VSS (Shadow Copy) comes into play and allows System restore to function.
