What is the maximum "safe" weight of inkjet paper?

Do anybody know a large format printers who will accept customer-sourced paper?

  • HI, I have a print job that I would imagine is straightforward. If I owned an A2 printer I could do it at home. I am an architecture student and want to print my entire portfolio (around 50 A2 sheet) onto a decent weight paper that basically isn't white. Surprisingly, no single printer in the Greater Manchester area has the ability to do this. It's bizzarre. I think they're so aligned to economy and aren't interested in a student's job even though I will probably become a loyal customer to the place that finally helps me. All I want is standard A2 inkjet prints, but onto colourplan 135gsm paper, I can even provide the stock myself. Can anybody suggest a printshop that is capable of this? Regards, Matt. P.s sorry for my frustration .

  • Answer:

Odd that no-one will take your job. This is certainly a straightforward job as 135gsm isnt that think and almost all large format printers can take it. I own a printing company bases in Gloucestershire http://www.swiftcolour.com (sorry site is under going reconstruction) we could certainly help you out. But with postage costs things could end up expensive but if you want to chat it over email me at [email protected]. -------------------------------------- Lets look at other solutions. -------------------------------------- Your school will have A2 printers somewhere especially as an architecture school. Failing that a local architects could help. Or local small print shop. Tell them you are willing to pay something like .50p a sheet and you will even supply the paper, so they only use their ink. Online printing sources can be cheap, not sure if they will accept you media though. Ebay is another option, but might be same issue as above. Hoe this helps
