Cannon FS200 mod files?

ok i just bought a cannon FS200 digital video camcorder i am using a mac when i upload the videos o they come up as mod. files and i cant watch them none of the software that came with the video camera works. help and i don't really want to have to buy the m peg 2 play back HELP!
