How do I start the print spooler on my XP?

  • I am trying to get the printer to work on my sisters HP Mini (Windows XP) and whenever I try to start the Print Spooler it comes up with this error message: "Could not start the Print Spooler service on local computer. Error 2: the system could not find the file specified." The startup type is set to automatic. And all its dependencies are running. (Which would only be the RPC). Please help me, I have read about everything there is online. :-/ Thank-you.

  • Answer:

Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services & look for Print Spooler. Double-click on it & make sure it's set to "automatic" and that it's been started. You can also scan your computer for errors - go to Start - Run & type: sfc /scannow This may fix any errors relating to the spoolsv.exe file.
