How to print with an ethernet cable?

I can't connect/print to my canon mp980 from my macbook air running osx 10.7.1?

  • As it says, I'm trying to connect and print to my canon mp980 from my macbook air running osx lion 10.7.1. I am able to see the printer through the canon network tool, canon ij printer utility and mp navigator (although I havn't tried scanning anything yet). I go into system settings>print & scan, press the '+', the printer doesn't show in the default scan. I then add it manually through IP, using LPD protocol (tried the others as well), and default 'print using' setting (as the printer is not listed). It seems to connect to the printer, it says that it is idle, but when i try and print it just says 'printer is busy', and nothing happens on the printer screen. I was able to print using a windows 7 computer which was connected via ethernet cable to the same router the printer is without any problems. Someone help!?
