  • Answer:

When you print using black ink, some color ink is used ink in doing so. Black and color inks work in conjunction with each other

every time you put in new cartridges, the printer runs a charging process which uses some ink. the first time you use a new printer. ink has to fill the small reservoir in the heads. so this is common. the level displayed is only an estimate. I get ink from www.ccs-digital.com for 50 cents a cartridge. I pay 2.50 and get $2 back for the empties. So I dont worry about ink usage. It's only pennies.
