Help to connect to my wireless printer.

My laptop won't connect to my printer over the wireless network...help please?

  • I have a laptop running Windows XP and I'm trying to print stuff over a wireless network to a Brother MFC-8860DN printer. The printer is connected via USB directly to our home computer, an iMac, and we have the network set up with an AirPort Express. Printing from the iMac to the printer works fine, and our network is working too, from the iMac and my laptop. When I run the Add Printer Wizard on my laptop, however, I select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer" and then "browse for a printer" and the only thing that comes up in the list is "Microsoft Windows Network." If I select that and click next, then I get an error message telling me to specify a valid network printer name. I checked all the settings on the Mac and printer sharing is on, but I still can't connect to it. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.
