Shared printer problem?

Shared printer problem?

  • Hello, I have two computers and one printer. The printer is directly attached to one computer and is networked (shared) with the other. Both XP professional. Everything was working fine and I could print from both computers. A few days ago I decided to create a guest account on my computer. So now I have an administrator account and a guest account. However, I can see and print from the administrator account, but when I switch to guest account, that printer is not there, and I can't even add the printer through the Wizard. I have enabled file and printer sharing from the Folder options and from the firewall, but still no help. I can only print if I am logged on as admin, otherwise no joy. Am I doing something wrong? Should I watch out for something, a setting...anything? Even if I don't comeback and say so directly, but I am grateful for the answers

  • Answer:

the guest account might need admin priviledges rather than those of a limited account, that should at least allow you to install the printer on the guest account
