What and how Do wireless Printer Work?

How can I get my printer to work on the wireless network?

  • I have a PC (running on Windows XP) and a Mac laptop (running on Mac OS x 10.4). The PC is wired to a HP Officejet 6210 All in one. I would like to print to it from my mac laptop wirelessly. Right now, I can print to it wired, so I know the drivers are installed. When I go to add a printer, I can find the printer wirelessly by looking at the network; however, when I try to specify the printer model, it is not there. I downloaded the "drivers" for this printer; however, they came in a huge software bundle and I can't seem to specifically find the file to select when setting up the printer in order to tell my mac the correct printer model so that it will print. Like I said, it will print when wired to the printer so I set it up that way then looked at the printer settings but no luck on locating the drivers that it is using to print that way. PLEASE HELP! As I have finals this week and really need to be able to print wirelessly from my Mac.

You really want to do that? Does your printer have a USB connection? You can attach that to a wireless LAN router. Before you buy a LAN router, ask the shop assistant if the LAN router support printer.

I could not find any documentation saying that the device was network-able. The spec sheet says, "Connectivity, standard - 1 USB, 1 PictBridge." If I missed something and it is, connect it to your wireless router using the provided CAT-5 cable and follow the instructions to set it up. If there is no Ethernet port on the printer then you cannot set up wireless printer sharing.
