Setting up a printer to my mac?

Macs can't find a printer?

  • I've set up my Epson Stylus SX420W to run through a Mac via USB. All computers around the house are connected to ethernet and wireless is turned off. Windows machines have no trouble recognising that the printer is connected to a Mac, but the other Mac's around the house can't find it. I have tried setting up the printer manually using it's IP address, default software for the printer and the location of it as connected to the Mac that it is connected to. The Macs that can't see the printer (Add printer section under system preferences) have the printer drivers and software installed. But here's the funny part: the Macs could print fine until the windows machines were connected to the Bonjour-based printer sharing. Why can't the Macs see the printer any longer?
