Why does my old HP printer get stuck?

HP Printer literally not doing anything?

  • I am using a PSC1315 (bought in 2004) printer on a Gateway laptop running Vista. I origianlly had the printer hooked up to a Dell desktop running XP (could not wait to get rid of that). But printer was fine for a few months, nothing was wrong it was printing fine. Three months ago the software from HP.com got deleted, so I reinstalled. Printer was fine once again. Two weeks ago, same thing happened. I reinstalled the software, and now printer wont respond to anything. It wont copy, it wont scan, and it wont print. I know its not the usb port, because I plug other things into it and its fine. I keep clicking print, and documents keep getting stuck in the queue, they wont delete. Is it time just to kiss the thing goodbye or is there a way to make it print again?

  • Answer:

At times HP you will get a glitch when using the printer software and you will need to uninstall and then reinstall I recommend this procedure for that problem. Just click the run tab Add/remove and remove all components for the printer Now do a complete clean up with the HP level 4 driver removal utility tool (Scrubber) When done, reinstall the software
