Why Isn't My Printer Printing?

i have to print out a voucher from the hotel i booked but whenever i click print, it doesn't print. so i go to the printer job and i see the thing i need to print, and it says printing. so i look at the info and it says "sending print data... idle". so i go and check the printer but it's not idle at all. i really need help. btw my printer is an HP Photosmart C4700, and im using a mac.

Check your cable that connects from the printer to your Mac. If that doesn't help, do a test print, not a normal document or something, but a test printout which every printer has. If it works but normal printouts don't then your cable connecting from the printer to the Mac maybe bad.

he first step if you're printer isn't working is to check the basics. Make sure that it's getting power and is turned on, that it has paper, and that you have ink in the cartridges. If the problem persists after doing those things, then the best next step is to visit the printer manufacturer's website and download the newest drivers for that printer. Once you have the newest drivers, uninstall the printer from the Printer and Faxes menu within the Control Panel, unplug the printer from the computer, reboot, and then turn the computer on again and plug the printer in again and reinstall the drivers. If none of those options work, or you would like assistance with any of those, then please contact the ITS Response Center to request additional help.
