How to properly replace ink cartridges?

Is there a way to replace Epson ink cartridges without being out of ink?

  • Black and magenta are full but my cyan and yellow cartridges are a little over 1/4 full, but when I print, there are those faded out lines, so I figure I need to replace the cartridges. But I don't know how to do it unless it's out of ink, in which case the computer notifies me, I push the stop button and it moves by itself to the spot where I can get the cartridges. But right now, it's not yet out of ink, so, how? P.S. Epson TX110

    you can go to settings-printers, right click you printer, choose printer preferences, the maintenance tab and then replace cartridges. the ink level shown by the printer is often inaccurate. if you see a problem with the print out, it's time to change cartridges. Visit http://www.ccs-digital.com and look on the left under information for several articles detailing how to solve printer issues, extend the life of the printer and the ink.

I can't swear about your Epson, but most printers will automatically move the ink cartridges to the exchange position when you open the printer cover. Just swap them manually. Note that ink levels shown by software are "approximate". There's no level gauge built into the cartridges measuring the actual ink level. Being off by 1/4 (either high or low) is far more common than you might think.

That's not your problem, you have 1/4 left in those two, all you need to do is run the option to clean the jet heads. Look under the printer options you will find a maintenance option run this and the faded lines will clear-up. P.S.: If the jets are really clogged you may need to run it a couple of times. If anything it will help use up what's left in the cartridge and clen the heads so you can change them.
