Why wont my printer work on my dell?
-
I bought a new Dell computer and didn't purchase the warranty, my fault, but my canon multifunction printer will not work. I have downloaded the driver from canon site and still wont work, says printer port not recognized. I have called dell and they want to charge me $100 to help. I talked to Canon and they helped by walking me through steps and say that my NEW computer will not support a printer, any printer, it's missing something. I am pissed that dell wont help. Also not all my usb ports work. It is too late to take my computer back to store. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
look in device manger under usb and check that your ports are not switched off. Windows has a setting to switch off the usb ports when idle, trouble is they never switch back on again. try removing all the usb drivers then restart and let windows find them and install them again do not let it search the internet.
