Connecting network computer to printer?

Accessing a printer over a network?

  • I have a printer attached to a computer running windows xp, it's a hp business inkjet 1100 I'm trying to connect to it form my wireless laptop I already have a network set up and I can share files w/o a problem I've turned sharing on on the computer that has the printer attached to it I can find the printer using (from the vista laptop) printers>add printer>networked printer When I try to connect to the printer using the above method it has a problem connecting and says "The file *.inf is needed Type the location of the file and hit ok" I tried to download the drivers (for the vista computer on the vista computer) however there are no drivers for vista! There is, however a workaround I just need to use the drivers for hp business inkjet 1000 the instructions make it simple, just make a new printer and manually set up the port and install the drivers then you just connect the printer to the computer The printer isn't connected to the laptop, ok so just download the dirver from hp except the windows vista driver doesn't have a download, because it's included in vista so all you have to do is connect the printer and the drivers will be automatically installed The printer isn't connected to the laptop, justin case you forgot, it's ok just use the hp support, dang where is the product number?, oh it's the one that's not labeled as anything just floating around on the sticker, ok here we go "It seems that your warranty has expired and we cannot help you, but we can help if you pay $25 is this ok?" "No it is not" F*k this let's just ask yahoo answers, and hope we get a good answer Ps the xp computer is an intell and runs xp pro, the laptop is amd and runs vista 64x home premium pps apparently this question has a lot of punctuation, thank you yahoo answers I really needed to know this

  • Answer:

Plug the printer into the laptop and run the drivers. After that you should be able to go anywhere and axcess the printer. I think it just needs to start from homeplate first. "Good Luck"!
