  • What is the power consumption of Laser Printers? Especially HP Laserjet 1000 series and Canon lbp2900 Printers

  • Answer:

officially for a workgroup printer, 800W during printing and 90W during standby. real-world, 600W, 50W. mid-workgroup printer (about your size probably) is about 500-800W in use and about 90W standby. most of this is heating up the fuser. it's a heater. there is also a laser and scanner assembly OR an LED array head in its place (okidata has those) if it's a good printer. the last LED printer I had lasted 17 years. if you want to know real-world values, get a P3 International Kill-A-Watt wattmeter, they are $40 at Home Depot.

Just to further answer the question. Jim's answer is 100% correct. as a further explanation, you can check the power drain of all sorts of things which drain electricity with no benefit to you. If you have TV sets with the turn on feature with a remote, you should get a power strip and turn off your power from the strip that your TV set is plugged into. The remote circuits in the TV set that allow for the turn on do take electricity, all the time that your set or sets that you think are turned off. In this economy anything that you can do to save electricity counts up. These strips only cost a few dollars and there is certainly a pay back in a short time. Good Luck.
