Why is my printer printing red horizontal lines all over the page?

My printer is printing random symbols and letters on its own?

  • My Epson printer/scanner/copier keeps printing off page after page of lines and lines of completely random symbols and letters that aren't even on my keyboard. I've tried turning it off then back on, but then it tries to start printing it again. I just took the paper out of it so it couldn't print it, but now it just says "paper out" all the time and won't let me do anything. It started printing at like 4 AM months ago, and it stopped for a while but then would start up randomly. I can't find anything to make it stop and let me continue using it when I need to. Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Answer:

Ink printers are notorious for this. When the print buffer overflows the print goes mad. Try unplugging it for a few minutes. Also look in the Windows printer queue and delete and jobs that are there. You can get to the queue for that printer by looking in your system tray by the computer clock for a printer icon and double clicking on it.
