I cant get my printer to install right because of the "found new hardware" isn't working. Please help?
-
Normally when installing a usb printer you install it by the user connecting a USB printer to the PC for the first time. The system displays the "Found New Hardware" message. It then gives you the option to install it. I had it installed once and then I had to do a system restore, and then when it asked me to install it again I thought it was installed, so I clicked not to install and never to ask this again. So now I cant get that to pop up again to install it. I've tried installing from the website, but it still needs it to install successfully, I've tried plugging it into usb ports as well. I cant manually add the printer because it doesnt work for usb ports. Please help me get the "found new hardware" to pop up for it again. I have an hp deskjet p1006. Thanks

update all your drivers, if you don't have drivers on disc go to each companies webpage.
The golden rule when installing devices is: "By default, install the stuff on the CD which came with it before connecting the device unless told otherwise by the manual" What you did was probably hooking it up first before actually installing the drivers in the CD that came with it. As far as i know, when I install printers, the "Found new hardware" window DOES NOT show up at all. Here's what you should do: -Do a clean up or your PC and registry (use ccleaner) to remove the invalid keys (since you have incorrectly installed the device) -look for the CD that came with that printer and install it's contents (don't mind the useless components, just install. you can remove them later. the driver is the most important) -then after it has installed, restart your PC -after restarting, when you see the desktop again, connect your printer It should work. sometimes it won't especially when you hooked up your device before the installing of drivers. this happened to me with a webcam when i didn't read the manual first which said to install the contents of the CD before connecting.
why not try this. assuming you already put the driver on the CD-ROM right click my computer>properties>device manager and a window will pop-up... on your portable devices, look for your printer model and... right click>update driver software>browse my computer for drivers>(your CD-ROM) and click ok. hehe! hope it helps!
You need to uninstall the printer, then get the driver from the manufacturer's website and install it. Do all this without having the printer connected. When the driver software installation asks you to connect the printer, then and only then connect the printer.
