What printers are compatible with Windows 7 64 Bit?

I have a windows 7 home edition with 64 bit os. What printers are compatible w/o having to download drivers?

  • Answer:

The easiest way to tell is to go to printers page, add printer, and see what comes up in the available drivers list. I think a majority of printers are available, the only question would be whether the printer you are looking at actually has compatiblity with Windows 7 64-bit operating system. You can just go to the manufacturer's site to find that part out though.

I just bought a new computer (Desktop) with windows7 Home Premium 64-bit. The printer I already had was on a XP desktop. I just installed it in my new computer and it works just like it did on my old computer. To be honest I never even thought anything about the fact that it might no be compatible. My XP was 32-bit system. My printer is a Lexmark 3500-4500 series.

Most of the printers be it HP or Epson, Windows 7 has the basic drivers pre- installed. You can connect it directly without the need to install drivers & use the printer with basic functions straight away. Windows 7 has finally made advancements in the right direction :)

Unless you buy a printer, compatible with the x64 Windows 7 operating system, the only way to get a driver that will work would be to download it. It should be easier than you think. Just download and run Win 7 adviser and you will find out if you need to change the driver and where. Or whether you should buy a new printer! Go Figure
