  • i use a 8 mpixel digital camera to take some pictures of dogs and cats and would like to print them by my color laser printer with a resolution of only 600X600 to a small size 8mX8mm print. i use photoshop to resize the print size to a 8mmX8mm size print, but it come out with not too satisfactory. any better way to make a better quality printer with the equipments and software now i have now? any suggestion?

  • Answer:

No. You're limited by the resolution of your printer, which is probably only 300dpi. Find someone with a really high resolution printer and use photo paper to print the image.

Sounds like you're selecting the wrong settings. Regardless of the dpi,if the picture is 8" x 10" in size (for example) it should print out that size. dpi only refers to the density of the image. A higher dpi means a more dense image meaning better quality. 600 x 600 should be fine. I'd suggest an ink printer though because laser printers can't reproduce the midtones in the picture correctly.
