Which USB cable is compatible with my Canon printer?

I was given a Canon printer and the USB cable is not compatible with my Dell Inspirion laptop.?

Is there an adapter I can purchase that will allow me to use the printer with my laptop and, if so, where can I find it?
Answer:

yes you can buy many adapters however the best bet would just to buy a new cable that plugs into a port on your computer since you will have to get an adapter from dell.com
