Answer:
what is you os? if you are using win xp, go to control panel>printers and faxes and right-click the hp2400 printer and click sharing. under the sharing tab click share this printer and click ok. that's it. on your laptop, just click the add printer wizard on the printer task and follow the steps on it. make sure that your computers are configured properly and all routers/hub are working. :)

Yes. my home printer is set up so that anyone can print to it through my desktop PC. I run XP, so if you have 7 or Vista it may be different, but here are the instructions for XP: open up control panel through the start menu (on the desktop while the printer is plugged in and running). open up "printers and faxes". right click on your printer and bring up properties, then click the "sharing" tab. select the "share this printer button", then assign a share name to the printer (usually just the name of the printer. ie, HP photosmart c4200.). next, on to your laptop. once again, open up control panel, then printers an faxes. click the add new printer button to the left. when it starts up, simply click next, select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer", the select "connect to this printer" and fill in the name of the printer in this format: "\\(your desktops name)\(the share name of the printer)". after that, your pretty much done. if you need to know your PCs name, right click on my computer and bring up properties and click on the computer name tab. hope this was helpful!
