How do I keep my monitor from going to sleep?

My monitor wont detect my computer.keep going into sleep mode?

  • hey, i got a compaq pressario (desktop) and its started asking up..when i turn it on, the monitor wont come on.. try turning it on n off and sayin no signal and goes into sleep mode...i try unpluging, i even bought a new video card, that didnt work either..i know the monitor is good cause i tried it on another computer. so could it be that it keep saying no signal. i have a old computer and its doing the same thing. could it be a hard drive issues?...help plz!!

    if lately you upgrade the memory, and you put on an incorrect module the monitor will said out of range them it turn black, older compaq need a SDRAM PC 100 with a max total of 768 MB (3x256)

The cable (vga or dvi) you are using to connect to monitor and computer may be faulty.

No video signal being detected, so... 1) Bad cable 2) Bad card (you said new, but S happens) 3) Does the computer boot all the way? Can you use another monitor on it? If the computer doesn't boot and initialize video, the card won't put out a signal. Try changing cables, Try a different monitor if you can Make sure the card is seated all the way Make sure the PC is booting (do you get a bunch of beeps?) Try the card in a different slot (if you have another of the same type) Try the card in another computer with a known working monitor.
