Why my computer does not play high quality movies?

the screen goes totally black when i play HD movies. my RAM is 256 mb, 2.44 ghz processor, 15'' lcd screen .........(old PC lol) my friend has the same configuration as mine except 1 gb RAM. and CRT monitor. but he can play those movies on his pc. so whats the problem with my PC?? plz help me

its not the problem with ram friend...either ur monitor has gone kaput or ur g-card is not gud
