PC to Monitor Connection help?
-
I had a PC about 5 ears ago nice LCD 22 inch monitor and a hefty PC. The video card was a Radeon 9800XT and the output was a small blue and the back of my monitor was a small blue so a simple wire cnnected em and presto. Obviously with PC things got out dated and broke down now I have an ASUS video card but this time there was not a blue output instead a Big grey and Yellow one. And my original Cord would not connect. Luckily it came with an Adapter so the little Blue connectes to the monitor then the other end to the adapter into the Big PC slot. Now a bit longer later the Monitor turns on and u can click the brightness a see the monitor is not broken. My PC turns on and lights up and such but the is no beeps to tell me something is wrong when like the power supply is broekn or so forth. But there is no visual showing up on my monitor. I look at the connector and it might be that broken or it is the small blue cord to connect to both. I ended up getting a New cord from a freind But this time instead of having small cord that fits into the connector to make it big Im reversed. I got a Big Cable that fits nicely into the PC but the monitor is a small blue slot. I dont have enough money for some place like best buy to check my pc out and no one around who knows enough to help. My question is how much would an adapter be for a Big slot to be changed to a little one and what is that called because when i type monitor adapter or connector adapter into google I get nonsense website and no help.

Answer:
Hi, It could be that the pc end is faulty. The easiest way to check which is faulty is to borrow another monitor or take yours to your friend and see if the monitor and cable work there. Arnak

What ur talking about is a VGA(blue) to a DVI(White) adapter. These are pretty cheap. They range anywhere from about 5 bucks to 15. Just matters what store you go to. If the screen is that big it may have a DVI(white big one) in the back to hook it in. If it does all you need is a Straight wire. But if it doesn't have that just go and buy the adapter, there are pretty cheap.
