How do I set up a dvi to vga adapter?

How can i get my monitor to work via dvi to vga adapter?

  • my monitor has vga port, but my graphic card has dvi port. i tried using a dvi to vga adapter but my monitor doesn't get any signal. when i tried another graphic card with vga and dvi ports, the monitor worked with the vga but still didn't work with dvi using the dvi to vga adapter. PLEASE HELP CUZ I CAN'T WAIT TO ENJOY MY 9600GSO

  • Answer:

Its most likely because your graphics card is outputting a signal at a too high frequency/resolution for your monitor. So it can't display it. Do you get anything on boot up? such as motherboard logo etc etc... as thats usually displayed at 600x800 resolution for all monitors. Using the dvi to vga converter? Regards George

I had the same problem and bought an adaptor from Ebuyer.com - worked fine for me - and was surprisingly cheap at £6.49 If your video card has 2 ports, have you tried the other one?
