What are usual maximum output frequencies on computer sound cards?

How do I disable HDMI Audio Output on a computer?

  • I have my LG TV hooked up to my ATI Radeon 3650 via a DVI/HDMI converter and then a HDMI cable, in addition to a regular LCD monitor. Normally, sound plays through my PC speakers. When I do turn on the TV though, which is set to clone the display of my regular monitor, the sound would be played through the TV instead of my PC speakers without me changing any settings. After I turn off the TV, I would get no sound coming from my computer speakers, most likely due to the fact that the audio output device is still the TV. When I reset my computer, the sound plays through my speakers again until I turn on the TV. I checked the control panel every time, but the device selected to play sound is still my sound card, Creative SB Audigy 4, when this is clearly not the case. I have updated drivers for both sound and video cards, but to no avail. I have also tried looking through ATI catalyst to see if there's an option out there, but I didn't find anything. Even disabling the clone monitor setting just leaves me with no sound. How do I stop HDMI Audio Output everytime I turn on the TV, and if it does happen, how do I make the sound go through my speakers again, short of restarting my computer? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

Update your card with the newest catalyst drivers, and make sure that you have the ATI HD Audio driver installed. without it, you cant actually disable the audio output for some reason, because the realtek chip that drives the audio is doing the auto detection.
