Why does my computer screen turn of when I play certain PC games?

When ever I play a PC game my screen turns into fuzzy lines?

  • Well yesterday I was playing combat arms ( a PC game, 1.2GB download ) and everything was perfect. Then today I went to play then all of a sudden the graphics on the game turn fuzzy. I restart my computer then I try again. 2 minutes into starting up the game again now then whole game screen turns into fuzzy horizontal lines on my screen. This only happens when I play PC games. But I can play regular games on the internet that don't take up as much space, and also I can run youtube videos etc and nothing happens. I've tried to lower the graphics on the game to see what would happen but I still get the same problem. Any other tips on what I can do? DONT SAY: Buy a new graphics card. Because I can't aford a new one.. COMPUTER SPECS: Microsoft windows XP Home edition version 2002 Service Pack 3 Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz 1.60 GHz, 512 MB of RAM GRAPHICS CARD: Radeon X1550 Seriers 256 MB memory size I have ATI Catalyst

  • Answer:

Your card sounds defected then. Depending on which X1550 manufacturer it is (VisionTek, Sapphire, Diamond, etc), get ahold of their customer service, and fill out an RMA form. So they can either repair, or replace the card. It's usually free or charge if it's under warranty. You simply mail the card in, they mail you a new one.
