Vertical lines on laptop screen?

I have an Acer TravelMate 3270 and there are vertical lines over the entire screen. However when I bend the screen with my hand the lines disappear. As you can see this isn't a great solution and was wondering if there was a long term solution without replacing the screen, as the screen has got the potential to display perfectly.

These are faulty pixel lines caused by bad connections, my mate used to squeeze his screen to get it to work, and I also thought clamping it but unfortunately there is not many if any other solutions.
