Is a bad monitor caused by electronic interference?

What caused my monitor to do this?

  • I was just checking my e-mail and then all the sudden my monitor shut off- black screen, no power on the signal light at all. Everything else stayed on- tower, keyboard, mouse, speakers. I tried to restart it and check all the cables and plugs, but still nothing. I tried it on my friend's hardrvie and still nothing. I tried my old monitor on my harddrive and it worked fine. So, the problem would have to be the monitor. I've only had this computer for about a month. It is a Dell desktop. What would have caused this? How do I fix it? Help!

  • Answer:

If the monitor came with the computer then it should be under warranty and you can return it for a fresh one. If not you'll just have to buy a new display.

If the signal light(that small power light close to power button) on the monitor is not showing at all try using a trusted power cable to Connect the monitor, or you open the monitor check the tube-like fuse attached to the board. But if the small power light close to the button is showing, then check the VGA pins that connects to the cpu if any has broken, if all are complete then work on the line transformer.
