Good Desktop Monitor?

A good monitor for a desktop and a console?

• okay ive been really saving up for a good monitor. the reason why i want a monitor is nowadays the lines blur between tv set and monitor since they can function for computers or just plain watching. however, since i more of the gamer and online surfer im leaning towards a monitor. Here are my specs (not too techno savy sorry if i misrepresent anything or what not) resolution should definitely be 1080p screen should be glossy, i dont like matte, my current display is glossy and i clean it very well as if it were a daily routine screen size would be somewhere between 22-30, ideally it would be 24-26 but anything between 22-30 is fine. aspect ratio is also important for me, i always had a 16:9 ratio whenever the opportunity presented itself. as for contrast ratio and refresh rate i have no idea how to spec that, but the current display on my laptop is from the sony vaio FW, the 1080p one with that backlight thingy, its great but i know there are monitors that can greatly surpass this, so this one is just for reference. im not saying that it should be light years ahead, just that it should be a display thats better i'm pretty sure that higher contrast rates are better, but im not exactly sure if higher refresh rates are better, a friend told me that the higher the refresh rate the smoother the image, if that is the case then something higher than 30hz will be most welcome. its a long question with a lot of this and that but anyone who can answer my question thoroughly will earn my respect, my appreciation (in the form of best answer), and my personal thumbs up. BTW warranty is also an issue but not that big, im careful with my hardware but it is a plus.

  Refresh rate has nothing to do with the monitor and everything to do with the combination of the GPU and game. You'll probably want a 2ms response time on that monitor to reduce ghosting.
